Milt Gerver Orchestra on the Playland Boardwalk Friday Nights in July and August
Scott Higgins - June 24, 2007Everybody get ready to rumba! – and jitterbug, lindy, and mambo – when the Milt Gerver Orchestra re-creates the sounds of the Big Band era on Friday evenings this summer, from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m., on the boardwalk at Playland Park in Rye.
The orchestra will perform on Fridays, July 13, 20, 27 and August 3. August 10 is reserved as a rain date for any of the scheduled performances. read more »
A Field Guide to Sprawl
Scott Higgins - February 15, 2006A Field Guide to Sprawl - currently on display at The Art Exchange Building, is a fascinating study of twentieth century urban development patterns in the United States. The exhibit consists of about three dozen aerial photographs of freeways, factories, shopping malls, subdivisions and stadiums by Jim Wark accompanied by descriptive texts by Yale Architecture professor Dolores Hayden. The texts identify each development phenomenon - gridlock, NIMBY, BANANA, McMansion, Zoomburb - like an Audubon guide identifies birds; the concept and texts for the show come from a book of the same name. read more »
