Phuket 5 Star Hotel Great Experience

A greater length of the western coast of Phuket Island is lined with resorts and restaurants that cater to tourists.  A popular resort along the beautiful coastline of Phuket is Patong Beach.  It is the place to be if you are looking for a thrilling nightlife. Patong is the “pulse” of Phuket. It is where fine dining, great shopping and rousing bar and club scenes happen.

Tha-Laang or Talang was the archaic name of Phuket.  It is the largest island in Thailand with a length of 48 kilometers and a width of 21 kilometers.  It lies in the Southeastern side of Thailand and lies in the ultra-blue waters of the Andaman Sea. Some 30 years ago, Phuket was just a sleepy and laid-back town.  In the 1980s those indefatigable backpackers “discovered” Phuket and from then on, the white-sand beaches in Phuket beckoned to all types and ages of travelers.

The island of Phuket is accessible by either a land bridge or by boat.  The ride from the airport at Old Phuket town to Phuket is a mere 40 minutes. Driving from Bangkok to Phuket is a 9-hour long scenic-route drive as Bangkok is about 870 kilometers away. From Krabi, Phuket is only an hour drive.

The famous beaches in Phuket aside from Patong are Karon, Bang Thao, Kamala, Kata Yai and Kata Noi. The beach of Kata Yai is famous for its great waves. It is a surfer’s paradise. Kata Yai is its “quieter” sister beach.  Kata beach as a whole is not as big as Patong.  The atmosphere here is more family-oriented with its wholesome local and international restaurants and none of those blinking strobe lights of Patong.  Kamala Beach is perfect for the budget travelers. There are no big luxury hotels in this area but more of low budget huts and bungalows along the beach.

There are other attractions in Phuket. A jaunt to Old Phuket Town to see the quaint and charming town is a must.  Elephant trekking in the jungle is a great activity for the whole family so is watching the Phuket FantaSea Show. For nature lovers, the fresh waterfalls in Ton Sai, Bang Pae at Khao Praew National Park is a sight not to be missed.

Water sports are available in every resort along the Andaman Sea. Great snorkeling, diving, skim boarding, jet skiing, parasailing and more are great experience for the whole family. For the inexperienced, there are skilled instructors to teach newbies. For those who prefer to just laze in the beach sipping cold coconut juice, don’t forget to stay in the shade and wait for a beautiful sunset.
